Ignaz Epper ist einer der f\u00fchrenden Exponenten des Schweizer Expressionismus. Sein Ruhm gr\u00fcndet sich vor allem auf sein grafisches Werk, insbesondere der Holzschnitte, die in den 10er und 20er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts entstanden sind. Diese Jugendarbeiten \u2013 zusammen mit den Holzschnitten dominieren die mit schwarzer oder farbiger Kreide angefertigten Zeichnungen \u2013 werden von einer pessimistischen Weltsicht durchdrungen.

Mischa Epper, k\u00fcnstlerisch weniger profiliert, hat sich im Gegensatz zu ihrem Mann nicht in den Idealen des Expressionismus wiedererkannt. Ihre Zeichnungen und Skulpturen, in der Tradition eines Maillol oder Despiau, sind vom Klima des Klassizismus durchdrungen. Die vielen Portr\u00e4ts und Figuren aus Gips oder Ton zeugen von einer sorgf\u00e4ltigen Untersuchung des Charakters und der Psychologie des Themas.<\/h4>\n

Auf vielen Zeichnungen ist der Einfluss des Psychologen C. G. Jung zu erkennen, der mit den Eheleuten Epper eine lange spirituelle Beziehung unterh\u00e4lt.\u2028Mischa Epper ist bekannt f\u00fcr ihre Skizzen und die Schaffung von Marionetten f\u00fcr das \u201cMarionettentheater\u201d in Ascona, das in den Jahren 1937-1960 eine bemerkenswerte Resonanz hatte.
