Epper was born in San Gallo on 6 July 1892. He trained as a designer and embroiderer between 1908 and 1912 before working as a freelance artist in Weimar and Munich from 1913 onwards. It was during this time that he made his first wood carvings and lithographs.<\/h4>\n
[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”0″ up=”0″ down=”27″][vc_column_text]Between 1916 and 1917 he met Han Coray and Fritz Pauli. In 1919 he married Mischa Quarles van Ufford and visited Ascona for the first time. During his Zurich years (where he lived until 1932), he met numerous painters, sculptors (Geiser, Fischer, K\u00fcnding, Rabinovitch, Suzanne Schwob, Stanzani, Wiemken) and writers (B\u00fchrer, HUmm, Morgenthaler, Pulver, R\u00f6lli). Over the years, he spent time in Switzerland, Germany (Berlin and Dresden), France (Collioure, Paris, Brittany), the Netherlands, and southern Italy. In the winter of 1932 he moved to Ascona, where he lived in Casa Pasini until 1938, before moving to a residence that would later house the museum (until 2020). In Ascona he made friends with Robert Sch\u00fcrch and Carl Gustav Jung and often frequented Eranos gatherings. In 1930 she made the acquaintance of Franz Fischer, and became his pupil, and later a pupil of Emilio Stanzani. She moved to Ascona in 1932. In 1933-34 she was a pupil of Charles Despiau in Paris and of Pierre Baud in Geneva. During this time she met Otto Charles B\u00e4nninger, Germaine Richier and Remo Rossi. \u2028In 1937 she collaborated with the Ascona Puppet Theatre. I locali di esposizione nella sede possono essere messi a disposizione del pubblico, per esposizioni, concerti o conferenze, sotto la sorveglianza del conservatore\u201d.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]La sede della Fondazione \u00e8 stata la casa museo dei coniugi Epper dal 1978 fino all\u2019autunno 2020, quando si \u00e8 reso necessario il trasferimento in un luogo pi\u00f9 confacente alla conservazione del suo patrimonio culturale e artistico a garanzia della sua effettiva fruibilit\u00e0 da parte del pubblico.
